As we move into Summer honoring the Summer Solstice, we move to the South direction on the Medicine Wheel, the Sacred Hoop of Life. The South is the place where the sun’s energy is the strongest. The South Winds bring great energy and opportunities to grow, to trust and follow your instincts. It is a time of rapid growth and change. In many Native traditions, the South is represented by the coyote, the trickster, who helps us to look with a child-like innocence with laughter, humor, and humility. The South is the direction of playfulness; a time to laugh, a time to express your emotions, and a time to discuss matters of the heart. The South is the place of emotional healing. It’s a time where you examine your feelings. It’s the place to come when you need healing of the heart, when you need to learn how to love, or let go of that which is not love. The South is associated with your relationship to yourself, to others, and to the Creator. You look upon your past journey and you see your growth, your expansion, and you learn to trust yourself and your intuition, to know yourself connected to the Creator. Facing the South, you look at your intentions, your goals, your dreams, and allow the seeds of action to sprout, to open fully, and to come to fruition.
What do you need to heal in order to allow yourself to grow? What is keeping you from trusting yourself? What do you need to unblock to be able to nurture your dreams and allow them to grow? What or Who do you need for support? What do you need to connect more fully with yourself and the Creator?
The power you gain from the South, is the power of love. The kind of love that allows you to open your heart more fully, to trust, and allow your dreams to mature and grow.
